Project ID 2210112071

Despite the progress education systems in Eastern Africa have made in promoting inclusion, addressing marginalization and advancing rights to education, including in the countries affected by crisis and post disaster contexts, the most marginalized and disadvantaged groups in the region are not fully realizing their right to education. The unprecedented COVID-19 crisis has put them at a higher risk of educational exclusion by exacerbating the existing inequalities and exclusions. Therefore, UNESCO will support countries in the region to improve and inform inclusive education policies and practices and; to build on regional commitments (Djibouti Declaration) for inclusion of refugees into educational national systems to make the right of education a reality even in emergencies situation.
