This workplan proposes to support LAC Member States in strengthening teacher quality as a way to address the overall need of improving students' learning outcomes in the region. The workplan is anchored in two main lines of action 1) Improving teacher education with focus on enhancing students' quality learning in foundational skills - literacy and numeracy; 2) improving teachers' professional status with focus on issues related to teachers' autonomy, agency, motivation and accountability in the context of teacher reforms proposing quality standards in the profession.
