UNESCO, through its mandate of education, natural and social sciences, culture, communication and information, supports countries in enhancing their knowledge on technical and policy aspects particularly on 1) Early Warning Systems; 2) Science, Technology and Innovation such as Artificial Intelligence; 3) School safety; 4) UNESCO designated sites resilience; 5) Built Environment; 6) Nature-based Solutions, 7) Risk Governance; and 8) Post-disaster Response through a multi-hazards, multi-disciplines, and multi-stakeholders engagement approach. All activities will align with the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030 and SDGs 1, 4, 9, 11, 13 and 15. UNESCO's major efforts are focused on strengthening the capacity of developing countries, in particular Africa and SIDS.
