Project ID 2210212061

In Eastern Africa, households still rely heavily on natural capital and the ecosystem services they provide. This notwithstanding, the region is subject to various vectors that exacerbate the pressures on biodiversity (e.g. increased population growth, poverty, fragile governance, limited access to resources, land rights, etc.). Added to this are the effects of climate change, such as drought, which is gaining ground in the region. This activity will deliver transformative science-based solutions to catalyse the sustainable management of biodiversity and preservation of ecosystem services. It will focus on development of biodiversity profiles and database platforms, evidence creation on the value of biosphere reserves and geoparks, policy support, capacity development and climate actions.
