Project ID 2210212081

After 2 decades of growth in Biosphere Reserves and Natural WH sites, in the past quadrennium, work to demonstrate their potential as model sites has intensified. The majority of 6 MS and 16 BR participate in 'Be Resilient' initiatives funded from EXB resources, focusing on adaptation and climate resilience related to water-related disasters. In parallel with the 'Be Resilient' portfolio, the RP will encourage the remaining 3 MS to join MAB, and will develop similar work in BR on biodiversity and ecosystem resilience. Visibility, awareness and networking, among BR, and also within UNCTs and SADC, will also be targeted. The RP will also respond to interest in geosciences and geoparks in the region, through capacity building and support for the first initiatives to establish geoparks.
