Project ID 2210212151
Increasingly, global and continental policy frameworks such as the Africa Plan of Action and the Sendai Framework have promoted the importance of indigenous and local knowledge (ILK) and advocated for an enhanced role in initiatives to mitigate disaster risk and climate change. However, such knowledge is rarely drawn upon or utilised to inform development and guide implementation of policies. The objective of this activity is to examine ILK potentialities in climate change and disaster response in Eastern Africa and understand how enabling policy processes can support ILK solutions at different scales for climate actions and disaster management.
