Project ID 2210213051

Member States in the Arab Region participate actively in MAB and the WNBR through the ArabMAB Network and its 35 biosphere reserves in 14 countries. Regional cooperative initiatives for sustainable development and climate change mitigation, adaptation and resilience will be supported and facilitated in close synergy with UNESCO Field Offices in the region. BRs will be promoted as areas of innovation and learning sites with particular reference to biodiversity conservation (post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework), ecosystem restoration (UN Decade on ES), climate change action and the sustainable development of local communities. Participation in regional initiatives should ensure mandatory gender parity in the target groups, and value local and indigenous knowledge.
