The lack of economic, livelihood, social, cultural or health data undermines indigenous peoples human rights and the conservation and sustainable development of LAC Biosphere Reserves. However, collecting such data should be a participatory process that reflects indigenous knowledge and lifeways. FILAC, UNESCO and MS will work together develop a methodology for social participatory mapping of indigenous peoples living in LAC UNESCO Biosphere Reserves of four LAC Member States, providing a baseline for indigenous peoples, development and conservation in the region.
