This project aims to recognize geological, cultural and natural heritage as well as geotourism as a catalyst for sustainable development of designated areas and the local communities within it. It will enhance and promote initiatives to make visible the Global Geopark Programme of UNESCO. The UNESCO Office in Mexico through the Global Geopark Programme of UNESCO will be accompanying Mexican initiatives and projects in their implementation of the SDG's in order to foster geotourism and the engagement of local communities in the conservation of natural and cultural resources.
