There are currently 132 biosphere reserves, including 3 transboundary biosphere reserves in 22 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. They are part of the IberoMAB network, together with Spain and Portugal. The activity aims to strengthen cooperation and share best practices in biodiversity conservation, management and participation, sustainable development and green economies among biosphere reserves in Ibero-America and with the thematic networks on 1) Islands and Coastal BR, 2) Mountains BR and 3) Youth, among others.
