Project ID 2210222121

Water security is an increasingly complex and dynamic challenge for Eastern Africa. The region faces a growing population; a changing and more volatile climate leading to frequent floods and water shortages; urbanization; poor water quality; diminishing supplies of water from aquifers; and potential for conflict over water resources. These have major implications on food and water security and livelihoods. Delivering transformative science-based solutions under an enabling policy environment will catalyse the sustainable management of water resources for a water secured Eastern Africa. This activity focuses on unlocking the potentials of groundwater resources and building the necessary evidence to support the development or reinforcement of gender-transformative policies on water.
