The activity aims at strengthening Member States capacities to improve STI policies and governance for the achievement of the SDGs, access to scientific and technological advancements and knowledge sharing by providing technical advice and guidance, fostering international scientific cooperation and mobilising multi-stakeholder participation. Therefore, UNESCO will work with Member States, relevant UN partners, Category 2 Centres and UNESCO Chairs, donor agencies and NGOs in designing standard setting-instruments for roadmaps and policy development in STI for SDGs, supporting the development and implementation of new frameworks and mission-oriented policies that contribute to improving STI governance and building appropriate national and regional STI ecosystems, capacities and resources.
