Project ID 2210242081

To speed up the useful application of scientific and technological research to the Sahel's existential challenges, there is need for the adoption of open science by member states within the region. The challenges of climate change, water and food security, biodiversity conservation and industrialization can be reduced by cutting short the need for re-inventing the wheel when results of similar efforts are already available and can be used with specific application to context. This is because Open science encompasses unhindered access to scientific articles, access to data from public research, and collaborative research enabled by ICT tools and incentives. This activity proposes leveraging the recommendations for open science by UNESCO to advance the case for it in the Sahel region.
