Project ID 2210252041

From UNESCO's Science Reports of 2015 and 2021, Sahelian institutional and human capacities in basic sciences, technology, research, innovation, and engineering still lags very much behind the rest of the world with Cape Verde as an exception. Without closing these gaps in scientific and research capabilities many of the existential challenges facing the Sahel such as environmental degradation, water and food security, and industrial development would continue to hamper development with conflicts. Systematic South-South cooperation is one way to bridge the gaps in knowledge and build institutional capacities. This cooperation type helps to bridge the gaps and to strengthen national capacities for skills that are very important for meeting developmental needs and building resilience.
