Under Global Priority Africa and in line with the Regional Action Plan 2022- 2027, the Secretariat will implement and promote the Regional Action Plan 2022-2027 and Flagship Programme 3: Fostering cultural heritage and capacity development. It will support capacity building, the increase of African experts, and involve youth. The Secretariat will primarily support 12 countries with no properties on the WH List, assist 15 sites on the List of the WH in danger, mentoring experts and support conservation to achieve targets of the SDGs and Aspiration 5 of the Agenda 2063. Support will focus on the participation of the States Parties, the African World Heritage Fund, universities, experts, civil society, youth and other partners in celebrating the 50th anniversary of the 1972 Convention.
