Project ID 2210523041

The current situation of the cultural heritage in the Region raises serious concerns: many historical and archaeological sites have or are being affected by violent fights or occupation by armed forces, vandalism and looting of several archaeological sites and museums have been reported. Since the beginning of the armed conflict in the Region, UNESCO has alerted the international community regarding the risk of illicit export of cultural objects. Moreover, the UN Security Council Resolutions specifically address the complex situation in the Region. The issue of preventing the illicit traffic in cultural property is becoming very important to Lebanon in particular within the actual situation in the Region.
