Many site managers are both unaware of the risks affecting their heritage and unprepared to address them. Emergency management systems do not always address threats to heritage protection, in addition there is limited capacity to respond quickly, to control and reduce the extent of the damage. The aim of this workplan is to increase capacity of key stakeholders and WH site managers. Activities under this initiative will aim at strengthening capacities of WH sites' managers and National Focal Points in Central Asia, promoting more holistic, multi-disciplinary approach for heritage management such as the integration of disaster risk reduction, emergency preparedness and response to tourism development in existing management plans of WH sites.
