The role of ICH in supporting livelihood and employment continues to be the center of policy attention in the countries of the Jakarta cluster. However, there is a need to explore non-commercial dimensions, such as the role of ICH in social inclusion, conflict resolution and emergencies. Such a concern is particularly relevant in this region regularly affected by natural disasters and where inter-community tensions persist. In continuation of 40C5, UNESCO Jakarta will continue raising awareness of the State parties on the UNESCO 2019 guideline for safeguarding intangible cultural heritage in emergencies while gathering case studies/evidence on how ICH is threatened/adjusted and/or has supported peoples resilience at the time of emergencies.
