The workplan contributes to implementing the two priorities of the 2003 Convention on the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, namely capacity building and education, building upon the achievements gained from the previous biennium. During the 39C/5 and 40C/5 biennium, the Almaty Office has implemented a number of activities that contributed building capacity for safeguarding living heritage, and to integrate living heritage in sustainable development, notably in formal education. Particular focus will be placed on ensuring women's participation in promotion of ICH through more holistic, multi-disciplinary approach. Moreover, the activity will also further engage with key stakeholders linked to relevant creative industries, such as the tourism industry.
