Project ID 2210546031

Within the framework of the International Decade of Indigenous Languages and in contribution to the implementation of the 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, the project seeks to design and implement tools for the participative inventorying of ICH elements and the revitalization of 3 indigenous languages (Ikitu, Kukama-Kukamiria and Taushiro). The bearer communities concerned are located in the Amazon region of Loreto. The project will benefit more than 1,700 speakers of these languages, which are, according to information from the Ministry of Culture, seriously endangered. The project will prioritize work with indigenous youth by strengthening capacities to develop community-based ICH inventories.
