East African State Parties to the 2005 Convention will be supported through technical and financial support with raising awareness and increasing capacities to develop the cultural industries sector and creative economy through regional and national launches of the UNESCO Global Report. Somalia will be supported with the development of a National Culture Policy and Action Plan in order to harness the potential of culture for peacebuilding and sustainable development. Extra budgetary funds will be mobilized to support national legislation concerning the status of the artist in line with the UNESCO 1980 Recommendation.
