Created in 2004, the UNESCO Creative Cities Network is currently composed of almost 300 member cities from about 90 Member States. Grouped in 7 creative fields, the Creative Cities are committed to placing culture and creativity at the heart of their local development strategies and plans, meanwhile actively exchanging at the international level. The UCCN Secretariat leads strategic initiatives and flagship projects and conducts the regular activities of the Network. Furthermore, it supports member cities through capacity building activities and materials, mobilizes additional funds, and promotes the Network's visibility and outreach through communication and advocacy.
