Project ID 2210614012
"Promoting and Protecting Linguistic Diversity and Multilinguism in the Mekong Countries" aims to engage various stakeholders using the consultative mechanism for Asia created through UNESCO Bangkok's facilitation in 2021. The proposed activities aim to promote and protect indigenous languages in the Mekong countries, home to a diversity of indigenous languages. The localization of the Global Action Plan for IDIL2022-2032 should help further normative frameworks for multilingual education. In addition, capacity-building activities in documentation and digital tools should help increase indigenous peoples' participation in various domains, while the sharing of indigenous knowledge, embedded in language, can highlight values for human development and the protection of biodiversity.
