Project ID 2210621021

This programme has a pivot role in contributing to Program V / Outcome 6 promoting freedom of expression. UNESCO plays and should reinforce its leading role in promoting press freedom as well as safety of journalists, including ending impunity for crimes against them. Awareness raising is a means to the action of fostering relevant stakeholders and duty-bearers' commitment to good practices and policy improvement at global, regional and national levels. The commemoration of the WPFD (3 May) and of the IDEI (2 November) will constitute the cornerstones of UNESCO's awareness-raising efforts on press freedom and the safety of journalists, along with the production and dissemination of the flagship publications of the series "World Trends in Freedom of Expression and Media Development".
