Project ID 235GBS5000

As Guinea Bissau is preparing for legislative elections (end 2022) in a highly tensed context, this project seeks to support spaces for inclusive dialogue, legal reform, safety of journalists, and initiatives for peace consolidation to strengthen democratic process and social cohesion. This will be achieved through reinforcing the legal framework for guaranteeing right to information; building capacity of security officers on public order and freedom of expression; supporting the monitoring and countering of hate speech; and enhancing the competencies of public and community media on "solution journalism" and fact-checking techniques for reliable reporting and countering disinformation.
