Founded in 1993, IAP is a global network of science, engineering & medical academies that work together to provide independent expert advice on scientific, technological & health issues to national and regional governments as well as to agencies in the UN system. Other main strategic priorities include science education, especially the promotion of inquiry-based science education (IBSE); promoting responsible research practices; supporting the careers of young scientists; promoting women in science; and strengthening IAP's global network, including supporting the creation of new academies in countries where they are not yet present.
