Project ID 473UKR4000

The war in Ukraine has inflicted damage to cultural heritage across the country. Ongoing military activities and operations within or in close proximity to cultural heritage continue to cause severe damage and even the destruction of such properties. The ongoing war has also drastically weakened the capacity of national authorities to take effective measures to ensure the protection of cultural heritage. This is not only limited to the ability to safely access and operate in the affected territories, but also to undertake monitoring activities, including through satellite imagery, which is essential in assessing damages and identifying actions to prevent further deterioration.
