UNESCO will organize the following activities in cooperation with its national counterparts, aiming at increasing ratifications and capacities in the LAC region: • A Regional Workshop on the Ratification and Implementation of the 2001 Convention; • A Regional Training on the Research, Management and Protection of the Underwater Cultural Heritage in the Latin American and Caribbean region; • Site evaluation assistance and a national workshop on the pre-Hispanic underwater cultural heritage of Guatemala; and • Assistance to UNESCO Member States in the ratification and implementation of the 2001 Convention on the Protection of the Underwater Cultural Heritage .
