To improve the implementation of the World Heritage Convention in the East Africa region, the Sultanate of Oman supports a new initiative with a three-year capacity-building programme for nominations and promotion of World Heritage in five East African States Parties (Comoros, Kenya, Madagascar, Somalia and United Republic of Tanzania), to i) support the updating of Tentative Lists; ii) assist in the preparation of robust nomination files for sites in four countries (Comoros, Kenya, Madagascar, and Somalia); iii) strengthen national capacities to implement the World Heritage Convention.
