The project will provide technical support and training to the staff of UNESCO designated sites on conservation and the sustainable use of biodiversity and the ecological restoration of ecosystems. UNESCO designated sites are hubs for sustainable development. In addition the scope of the programme will also include sites or elements that are being considered for designation as UNESCO designated sites with particular attention to requests from transboundary sites and transnational elements. This programme will contribute to the objectives of the Paris Climate Agreement and to the Post-2020 global biodiversity framework as well as to the UNESCO Biodiversity Strategy
