Digital transformations change all aspects of societies - not such specific practices, but also how humans understand and perceive themselves. They have the potential, as explored in an extensive literature, to make us fundamentally different kinds of beings. Making sense of these transformations and building the capacity to manage and to respond to them demands contributions from a range of disciplines and paradigms. Among these, anthropology has a distinctive and crucial role because of its long tradition and well-honed methods to study how practices connect to narratives and to identities to define the texture of a community or a society.
