The project provides structural mechanisms to the Brazilian Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovation and Communications (MCTIC) to reinforce and implement the Brazilian National Strategy for Science, Technology and Innovation (Estratégia Nacional de Ciência, Tecnologia e Inovação - ENCTI, 2016-2019). The project is also an important enabler for the fullfilment of SDG 9 in Brazil, particularly its target "b" ('Support domestic technology development, research and innovation in developing countries, including by ensuring a conducive policy environment for, inter alia, industrial diversification and value addition to commodities").
