Project ID RAF0107251

The project aims at initiating the implementation of regional Strategic Action Programme (SAP) for the rational and equitable management of the Nubian Sandstone Aquifer System (NSAS). The NSAS is one of the largest aquifer in the world, stretching over 4 countries in NE Africa (Egypt, Libya, Sudan and Chad). The riparian countries sharing the aquifer face similar problems of water scarcity, and the aquifer is a critically important source of water in this arid desert region that will be increasingly in demand in the future.
