Pluralistic and independent media are key to democracy and the rule of law as well as the realisation of sustainable development goals. Pluralism is supported by fostering community media, public service and diversity in editorial content. Independent media is supported by promoting self-regulatory standards and mechanisms, all the more vital in crises and emergency contexts, such as climate change, terrorism, migration and the media.
